FairGaze, a leading school-focused media ecosystem, in association with India Is Us is conducting a month-long, student-led campaign to commemorate ‘International Day Of Education and National Girl Child Day’that is celebrated on 24 January every year. This campaign aims to contribute towards the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
Engagement Activity: – Debating Perspectives on Education Policy.
Student Selection: - Four schools will participate in selecting students from grades 6-12. Each grade category (6-8, 9-10, 11-12) will have 10 students selected.
Perspective Assignment:- Among the selected students, half (5) will represent a positive perspective on the education policy, while the other half (5) will present a negative perspective.
Registration:- On Education Day, selected students will register on the FairGaze campaign page.
Articulation of Viewpoints:- Each registered student will articulate their viewpoints on the chosen education policy.
Online Debate Competition:- After the submissions, an online debate competition will be organized between the teams supporting and opposing the policy. The debate will be conducted virtually, with a predetermined set of rules and time limits for each participant.
Judging Criteria:- Judges (potentially teachers, education experts, or external professionals) will evaluate participants based on the clarity of arguments, logical reasoning, persuasiveness, and overall presentation.
Winner Announcement:- The winner of the debate will be announced on the same Education Day.
Critical Thinking:Students will analyze and critically assess education policies, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Articulation Skills:Participants will enhance their ability to articulate thoughts and ideas effectively, a valuable skill in academic and professional settings.
Perspective-Taking::Engaging with opposing viewpoints encourages empathy and a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues.
Teamwork:Collaboration within teams fosters a sense of teamwork and collective achievement.
Public Speaking:Participating in a debate hones public speaking skills, boosting confidence in expressing opinions.
Who can participate-Students of classes 6th to 12th of schools across geographies in India (Patron Schools that are associated with FairGaze)
Mode of participation- Online.
Contest fee-The contest is FREE for all students.
